Rudy Upton
President
Originally from High Point, North Carolina Rudy is a second-generation home builder and a licensed General Contractor. He moved to Raleigh to pursue a Business Management and Economics degree from North Carolina State University and stayed in the area afterwards to raise a family. Rudy founded Upton and Co. in 1980 and has served as the President from the company’s inception. For over 40 years, he has worked to build a legacy of customer focused, high-quality craftsmanship and has been involved in every detail of the business.
Rudy Upton, Jr.
Vice President
As a third-generation builder, Rudy Jr. has been involved in the family business his entire life. He has served in an official capacity at Upton and Co. since 2010 and received his General Contractor license in 2015. In his role as the Vice President Rudy is responsible for maintaining the quality standards clients have come to expect from Upton and Co. homes. He is involved in every step of the home building process and helps turn clients’ dreams into reality. Rudy is a fifth-generation graduate of North Carolina State University where he met his wife, Madison. Together they live in downtown Apex with their daughters, Reagan and Anna Gray.
Madison Upton
Operations Officer
Originally from Eastern North Carolina, Madison moved to Raleigh in 2006 to attend North Carolina State University earning her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Human Resources. She and Rudy Jr met in college, married in 2011 and stayed in the Triangle area. Before joining Upton and Co. in 2018, Madison’s previous roles were with Triangle based companies as both a Human Resources practitioner and consultant in various industries. Madison has held her PHR certification since 2014 and in 2018 she earned her master’s degree in Business Administration from Meredith College. As the Operations Officer at Upton & Co., she wears multiple hats, including finance, operations and HR. She and Rudy Jr. live in downtown Apex with their daughters, Reagan and Anna Gray.
Tim Sweet
Construction Manager
Tim has been in the building industry most of his adult life. In 1998, Tim and his wife, Lea, moved to Cary, NC from the small town of Middleport, NY. He was looking for better opportunities and to start a family. Tim owned and operated a residential framing company for 19 years. During that time, he built a trusted relationship with Upton & Co. In 2021, when he was ready to close his framing company, Upton & Co had the opportunity to bring Tim on board as our Construction Manager. In this role, Tim is responsible for the production of homes from start to finish. Tim has a one daughter, Avery, and calls Apex home.
Megan McCormack
Accounting
Megan joined the accounting function at Upton & Co in 2022. She was born and raised in Pinehurst, NC. In 2006, Megan graduated with a B.S. in Accounting from Elon University with a minor in Business Administration. Shortly thereafter, she earned her Master’s degree in Accounting from NC State University graduating in 2007. Megan’s prior accounting experience includes the review and preparation of financial statements, entity risk assessment and valuation of internal controls. Her most recent position was at a large international public accounting firm located in Raleigh, NC as an Audit Manager. Megan currently resides in Holly Springs, NC with her husband, Ryan and two daughters, Vivian & Charlotte.
